Dust-Contained Precision · Licensed & Insured · No Compromise
Hardwood Removal · Jacksonville & Northeast Florida
Advanced Flooring Removal (AFR) removes glued-down hardwood and engineered wood in Jacksonville, typically $2.00 to $3.50 per square foot. We lift the boards with ride-on equipment, grind the urethane or mastic adhesive off the slab, and haul everything away, with dust containment on every job.
Why Homeowners Choose AFR
Sealed work zones and HEPA air scrubbers keep removal dust in the work area, not in the rest of your home or your HVAC.
Most families stay home during the job. We move and protect furniture and cover the work path before we start.
Thinset and adhesive are ground off, so the slab is clean, flat and ready for your new floor.
What We Handle
Most hardwood in Northeast Florida is glued straight to the concrete slab. The hard part is not lifting the boards; it is getting the adhesive off without gouging the slab. On second floors and homes with a plywood subfloor, the wood is usually nailed down instead.
Solid wood glued to the slab is lifted with ride-on scrapers and precision demo tools, then the adhesive is ground off.
Wide-plank engineered floors are often set in heavy urethane. We remove the boards and every bit of adhesive left behind.
Leftover adhesive is the most common reason a new floor fails. We diamond-grind it off so the slab is clean and ready to install.
Wood nailed or stapled to a plywood subfloor is mainly hand labor. We pry up each board with hand tools and pull the nails and staples, leaving the subfloor ready for new flooring.

Our Pricing Approach
Square footage tells us how much floor there is, not how long it takes to remove it. A 1,000 sq ft empty warehouse and a 1,000 sq ft occupied medical office are two very different jobs. Published prices are typical ranges; your written quote is based on your site. Per-square-foot pricing is available for ongoing clients with repeat work.
In an empty space we run ride-on scrapers and large machines at full speed. Occupied homes and offices need containment zones, HEPA air scrubbers, protected walk paths and smaller equipment that fits around furniture and people. That adds 30% to 50% more labor time.
With a dumpster on site, debris goes straight out and the crew stays focused on tear-out. If we haul it away, loading, drive time and landfill wait can add a half day to a full day per load.
Elevators, stairs, tight doorways and long hallways decide whether we bring in large machines or move material out by hand. Our equipment runs on standard outlets, so no special power setup is needed.

Before You Book
Removing glued hardwood or engineered wood typically costs $2.00 to $3.50 per square foot with AFR, including adhesive grinding and haul-away. Small areas carry a minimum charge of $300 to $1,000, and pricing is the same in every county we serve.
Most residential hardwood removals take one to two days. Our ride-on scrapers can clear 1,000+ square feet of glued hardwood in a day, depending on the adhesive and the layout of the home.
It can if it is done by hand scraping or with the wrong tools, which is how slabs get gouged and need self-leveling repairs. AFR lifts the boards with ride-on equipment and grinds the adhesive with diamond tooling to leave a clean, flat slab.
Yes. Adhesive grinding is part of every hardwood removal. Leaving urethane or mastic behind is a common shortcut that causes new floors to fail, so we take the slab down to clean concrete. See how this plays out in our Ponte Vedra hardwood removal work.
Yes. AFR removes and handles water-damaged wood flooring and the moisture issues that come with it. If only part of the floor is damaged, ask about our flooring repair service too.
Yes. AFR also installs flooring, so removal and installation can be one project with one crew. See our wood flooring installation page.
